Wakhati Agri Business is undertaking a cassava value addition initiative in West Nile aimed at promoting the transformation of cassava from a raw agricultural product into value-added products. The initiative focuses on creating greater value from cassava while supporting opportunities within the local agricultural value chain. Through this project, Wakhati seeks to contribute to improved utilization of cassava, strengthen linkages within the cassava value chain and promote opportunities for farmers and other agricultural stakeholders in West Nile. The initiative forms part of Wakhati Agri Business's broader commitment to supporting agricultural development, value addition and stronger market opportunities for farming communities in the region.
Wakhati Agri Business is conducting farmer training on row planting to promote more organized and manageable farming practices. The training helps farmers understand the importance of establishing crops in well-spaced rows, making it easier to carry out essential farm activities such as pruning and weeding. By encouraging orderly crop establishment, the initiative aims to make routine farm management more practical and efficient while helping farmers maintain better-organised fields. The training forms part of Wakhati Agri Business's ongoing efforts to strengthen farmers' practical knowledge and promote improved agricultural practices within the farming community.

Read StoryI have learned how to prepare and manage nursery beds properly, including how to plant and care for seedlings before transferring them to the main garden. The training has given me skills I can use on my farm.
Before the training, I knew how to plant, but I did not know many of the practices that can help crops grow well. I have learned how to prepare nursery beds, plant correctly, make ridges and use mulching. These are skills I can apply directly in my garden.
The training has helped me understand better agronomic practices such as making ridges, mulching and proper crop establishment. I now understand how these practices can make farm work easier and improve crop growth.
